Cash and credit cards are not accepted in the university cafeterias, known as 'yemekhane' in Turkish. There are two ways to use the cafeteria:

1. Open a Yapı Kredi bank account. You must first obtain a residence permit to open a bank account. Once you have a Yapı Kredi account, you can use its bank card or app at the cafeterias
2. Joker Card: This card is a pre-paid card. You can top it up using your own bank or credit cards. Unfortunately, Turkish bank/credit cards are currently the only ones accepted. If you don't have a Turkish credit card, you can ask someone who does to help you. To apply for a Joker Card, you need a Hacettepe email account. The link to apply for the Joker Card is: https://kartbasvuru.hacettepe.edu.tr/ and the link to deposit money https://yukle.al/ Those who finance their Turkish course themselves cannot apply for the Joker Card via the link. However, if you would like to receive a Joker Card, we can apply for it on your behalf.

You can use the cafeteria with or without a reservation.

With reservation: You must book at least one week in advance. You can choose whether to have lunch or dinner, and which cafeteria to use. To make a reservation, you will need either a Yapı Kredi bank account or a Joker card. However, you cannot use money that you have already deposited into your Joker card for this purpose. The reservation link is https://rezervasyon.al/ It works like online shopping: You can choose the day, meal and place, and then purchase your reservation. Unfortunately, only Turkish credit cards are accepted. It is cheaper to use the cafeteria with a reservation than without one. Students pay 40 TL with a reservation and 50 TL without one.

Without reservation: Using the cafeteria without a reservation is only permitted at specific times. For students, this is between 13:00 and 14:00. Please check the opening times. You can pay with your Joker Card or Yapı Kredi bank account.
